Apple’s Foldable MacBook Delayed Due to Technical Challenges
Apple’s highly-anticipated foldable MacBook has hit a snag, with a recent report suggesting that the company may delay its launch by more than a year due to technical challenges with the device’s components. According to TF Securities International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple had planned to launch the foldable MacBook with a 20.25-inch display, but has now cancelled that design and will instead launch the device with an 18.8-inch panel.
Kuo made the announcement on Twitter, stating that the final display size spec has been confirmed at 18.8 inches, and that Apple has cancelled the 20.25-inch design. He also revealed that the mass production schedule of the foldable MacBook model has been delayed due to technical challenges with the display and mechanical components.
The analyst predicted that the foldable MacBook could now enter mass production in late 2027 or 2028, instead of the previously expected first half of 2026. While this news may be disappointing for fans of the device, it’s not the only delay Apple has faced. The company was also working on a foldable iPad model, but Kuo reports that there is currently no information about this device.
Despite the delay, Kuo hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a foldable iPad model, but notes that the lack of visibility in the supply chain survey means it is unlikely to launch in the near future. It’s possible that other market analysts may have referred to the foldable MacBook as a foldable iPad, which could have led to confusion about the two devices.
