Suspend Imo LG Election Pending Supreme Court Ruling – Henry U. Orji

The Imo State government should put the upcoming local government elections on hold until the Supreme Court’s ruling on local government autonomy is fully implemented. Any election conducted without adhering to the Court’s guidelines would be illegal and a waste of state resources.

President Bola Tinubu is committed to ensuring local government autonomy nationwide, a key step toward fostering grassroots development. Every well-meaning Nigerian should support this initiative.

This process will also guarantee full participation from all political parties, preventing the dominance of a single party. The only way to ensure transparency and inclusivity in this process is by following the Supreme Court ruling and adhering to the recent federal committee’s recommendations on local government autonomy.

Building a better Nigeria is everyone’s responsibility, and positive steps by the government at all levels deserve support.
