Benue APC Rejects purported Dissolution of State Working Committee

The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly rejected the purported dissolution of its State Working Committee (SWC) by the National Working Committee (NWC). According to a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Daniel Ihomum, the dissolution is illegal, unlawful, and unconstitutional.

The statement came after the NWC purportedly dissolved the SWC on August 21, 2024. However, Ihomum pointed out that there is a subsisting court order issued by Honourable Justice T.A Igoche of the Benue State High Court, Makurdi, restraining the NWC or any other organ of the APC from removing, changing, replacing, dissolving, or terminating the tenure of the SWC until the expiration of its four-year tenure of office pending the determination of the motion on Notice.

Ihomum stressed that it is illegal and unconstitutional for the NWC to remove, dissolve, or replace a democratically elected SWC whose tenure is subsisting, especially where there is a valid court order that has been duly served on the NWC.

The party urged its members and party faithful to disregard the purported dissolution and reminded them that the Local Government Primary Election scheduled for Saturday, August 24, will go ahead as planned.

The Benue APC reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the principles of democracy and the rule of law, and emphasized that the party will not condone any actions that undermine the integrity of its internal processes and procedures.
