Tragic Accident Claims Life of Nigerian University Student
In a tragic turn of events, a final year student of the Department of Foreign Languages at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, Esu Ema, has lost her life after being involved in a fatal car accident.
According to reports, Esu, with matriculation number FRM/2019/041, was struck by a Lexus car driven by one Lasisi Sodiq near the university campus while on her way to submit her final year project to her supervisor.
The accident reportedly occurred on the Ife – Ibadan Road near the campus gate. Esu was confirmed dead at the scene, and her corpse was recovered by the Federal Road Safety Corps and deposited at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex’s mortuary at 12:35 pm.
In response to the tragedy, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simeon Bamire, has sent a condolence message to the parents of the deceased, expressing his sorrow and lamenting the loss of a young life. He appealed to family, friends, and classmates to find solace in God, saying “The Lord will give us all the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
