Nigerian Singer Omah Lay Accuses Colleague of Album Idea Theft
Nigerian singer Omah Lay has made a shocking claim, accusing a fellow artist of stealing the concept for his next album. According to Omah Lay, he shared the idea with the unnamed colleague, who was interested in collaborating with him. However, the artist later released an album with the same concept without giving Omah Lay the opportunity to record his own project.
Omah Lay made the revelation during an interview on the Zach Sang Show, stating that he shared the idea with the colleague because they were supposed to collaborate. However, five months later, the artist released an album with the same sound and concept, leaving Omah Lay with no choice but to re-record his own album.
“My song ‘Holy Ghost’ is a new sound. I was going to make the whole album with the new sound but along the line, I changed my mind,” Omah Lay said. “I shared an idea with a certain artist and the artist went ahead and put out an album with my idea and I had to re-record my album.”
The incident reportedly made Omah Lay re-record his album, which he claims will now be the greatest album in Afrobeats history. The singer did not name the artist accused of stealing his idea, but the incident has sparked heated debate in the music industry.
Omah Lay’s allegations have raised concerns about the lack of originality in modern music and the importance of respecting creative copyright. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining professional ethics and respect for one’s peers in the entertainment industry.
