Kamala Harris Vows to Unite American People, Slams Donald Trump Ahead of Presidential Election
In a defiant speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Thursday, US Vice President Kamala Harris pledged to be a president who “unites” Americans, countering her White House opponent Donald Trump’s bid to “pull our country back to the past.”
Fighting for the Middle Class
Harris, 59, sought to contrast her vision with Trump’s domestic policy agenda, which she accused of not fight for the middle class or everyday Americans. At the convention, she vowed to ensure that the middle class could thrive, saying that President Joe Biden’s endorsement of her confirms her commitment to this goal. This is a crucial moment,” she emphasized, “where we have got to build that middle class, with good-paying jobs, and we go back to the days when everybody had a chance to get some dignity and respect.”
‘Opportunity Economy’ and Better Future
Harris aims to create an “opportunity economy for everyone” by bringing together labor, small businesses and American companies to create jobs and lower household expenses. She emphasized improving healthcare, housing, and infrastructure to benefit all Americans, regardless of residency, whether in rural areas, small cities or big cities.
Warning of Unchecked Power
In criticism of Trump’s campaign, Harris referred to the hard-right “Project 2025” blueprint, warning that its policies would “pull our country back” to the past. She instead rallied her supporters, saying, “We shall not be deterred by those attempting to divide us. We will do what is right, what makes sense, and what is in every American’s best interest.”
Clear Policy Positions
Harris highlighted her commitment to clear policy positions contrasted with Trump’s campaign’s current lack of transparency. “We aren’t going to just sit with our arms folded, hoping change happens. We’re going to come up with a plan, we’re gonna make it clear, and we’re going gonna fight for it,” she stressed.
