Armed Woman and Child Intercepted with Anti-Aircraft Ammunition in Nigeria

In a surprise operation, operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command in Nigeria have arrested a woman, Hauwa Sani, alongside a two-year-old child, and seized a large quantity of dangerous weapons.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, the operation took place on Friday when the operatives intercepted the suspect, a resident of Doro village in Katsina State, near the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The police recovered 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition, concealed in a gallon of palm oil, from the suspect. The preliminary investigation revealed that the ammunition was received by the suspect at Rafin Sanyi village in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

In a statement, the police spokesman noted that the suspect had concealed the items in the palm oil en route to Katsina State before being apprehended. The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered the transfer of the suspect and the exhibit to the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja, for further investigation.

The incident highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies in Nigeria to combat the flow of illegal weapons and prevent violent crimes.
