Kogi State Governor Celebrates Supreme Court Victory, Calls for Unity

Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Governor of Kogi State, has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision affirming his victory in the November 11, 2023 governorship election. The apex court’s ruling has put an end to the controversy surrounding the poll, and Ododo has urged opposition parties to join hands with his administration to move the state forward.

In a statement released on Saturday, Ododo praised the judiciary for standing firm against threats and blackmail, ensuring justice is served. He described his victory as an act of God, emphasizing that the election was transparent, fair, and credible. Ododo also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and urged opposition leaders to join him in his administration to bring about more dividends of democracy to the people of Kogi State.

The Governor, who won the election resoundingly, called on his supporters and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain magnanimous and celebrate the party’s victory. He stressed that the election was not about personal achievements but about the people who voted for his party.

Ododo expressed his commitment to serving the people of Kogi State with dedication and the fear of God, promising to redouble efforts to deliver dividends of democracy. The Governor’s statement comes as the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its candidate, Muritala Ajaka, declaring Ododo the rightful winner of the election.

As Kogi State looks forward to a new era of governance, Governor Ododo’s call for unity is timely. With the Supreme Court’s decision putting an end to the political impasse, it is essential that all parties come together to work towards the development of the state.
