WhatsApp Unveils New Features: Customizable Chat Themes and Username PIN Protection

WhatsApp, the popular messaging app, has been working on two exciting new features that will enhance user experience. According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing a theme picker that will allow users to customize their chat backgrounds and chat bubble colors. Additionally, the company is working on a feature that will protect users from unwanted contact by introducing a PIN system for usernames.

The theme picker, spotted in development on iOS, will offer users 10 theme presets to choose from, including solid colors and landscape art-based themes. The feature is still in development, and beta testers will need to wait until it’s ready to be tested.

The second feature, dubbed “Username PIN,” will allow users to set a unique username and protect it with a PIN. This means that only those with the correct PIN will be able to start a new conversation using the user’s newly set username. This feature is designed to prevent spammers and unwanted chats from reaching users.

WhatsApp’s theme picker is unique in that it will only display the selected theme to the user who applied it, unlike Instagram and Messenger, which show the same theme to all chat participants. The Username PIN feature will also be rolled out to beta testers in the future before it becomes available to users on the stable channel.

These new features demonstrate WhatsApp’s commitment to innovation and user experience. With the theme picker, users will have more control over the visual aspects of their chats, while the Username PIN feature will provide an added layer of protection against unwanted contact.

The company’s focus on user experience and security will likely appeal to its millions of users worldwide. As WhatsApp continues to develop and roll out new features, users can expect an even more personalized and secure messaging experience.
