Nigerian Air Force Conducts Airstrikes, Neutralizes Terrorists and Destroys Illegal Refining Sites

The Nigerian Air Force has announced that its airstrikes have successfully neutralized terrorists in Zamfara State and destroyed illegal refining sites in Rivers State. The airstrikes were conducted as part of Operation Whirl Punch, a military operation aimed at combating terrorism in the country.

According to a statement released by the Nigerian Air Force, the operation was launched in response to the recent surge in terrorist activities targeting innocent civilians in Niger State. Intelligence gathered revealed that most of the terrorists responsible for the attacks were based in Kaduna State.

The Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch tracked and located the terrorists in Malum forest in Kaduna, and then executed an Air Interdiction Mission on their stronghold. The mission resulted in the elimination of several terrorists, according to battle damage assessment and feedback from local sources.

Similar strikes were also conducted on terrorists’ hideouts in Bayan Ruwa, Maradun LGA of Zamfara State. The terrorists were tracked to zinced-roofed structures in a vegetated area with few footpaths and a river line, and were then acquired and engaged in successive passes.

In the Niger Delta Region, patrols conducted by the air component of Operation Delta Safe over Ohaji/Egbema in Imo State and Degema and Cawthorne Channel in Rivers State revealed several illegal refining sites and overhead tanks, which were effectively destroyed. A total of over 25 illegal sites were destroyed, including a leaking pipeline in Greenville, Rivers State, which was observed to be spreading across over 150 meters radius, causing negative consequences on the vegetation, aquatic habitats, and farmlands.

The Nigerian Air Force’s efforts to combat terrorism and illegal activities in the country are a crucial step towards ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
