Dino Melaye Named a Liability by Kogi State PDP

In a fresh blow to Senator Dino Melaye’s political career, the Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has branded him a liability to the party. The party’s elder members, led by Ibrahim Dansofo, have urged the local executive committee in Ijumu to take immediate suspension proceedings against Melaye.

The Kogi PDP expressed their concerns about Melaye’s political ambitions, stating that he has crumbled to the point where he can no longer secure a local councillor position. They accused him of using the party as a means to negotiate personal gain with the ruling party rather than contributing positively to the PDP.

On Saturday, Melaye claimed that the acting national chairman of the PDP, Iliya Damagum, Samuel Anyanwu, and Umar Bature have destroyed the former ruling party. However, the party elders condemned Melaye’s remark, calling his accusations hypocritical. They reminded him that he was granted a governorship ticket despite the party’s awareness of his inability to win even a primary election.

The party is determined to move forward, reclaim its strength, and rebuild its reputation as a formidable political force in the state. In a veiled attack on Melaye’s supporters, the Kogi PDP urged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to reevaluate their support for Melaye, describing him as a “bondage” and a “big-time liability” for the party.

The party is asking the Nigerian public to disregard Melaye’s remarks, labeling them as the desperate words of a man whose political relevance has long since faded. They also demanded that Melaye account for the billions he collected in the name of the governorship election.

This latest development is set to further divide the PDP and put a strain on the already precarious state of the party in Kogi. As the party seeks to rebuild its image, Melaye’s continued involvement could hinder its progress and make it challenging to attract new supporters.
