Nigerian Army Foils Terrorist Operation, Kills One and Recovers Arms and Ammunition

In a significant breakthrough, troops of the 1 Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna, have successfully conducted a clearance operation in the state, killing one terrorist and recovering a cache of arms and ammunition. The operation, which took place on Sunday, was carried out in the general areas of Sabon Birni, Dogon Dawa, Maidaro, Ngede Alpha, and Rafin Kaji.

According to a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, the troops made contact with terrorist elements, leading to a firefight that resulted in the killing of one terrorist, while others fled with suspected gunshot injuries.

The Army spokesman added that the troops recovered four AK-47 magazines, a PKT belt with 86 rounds of ammunition, two motorcycles, a Techno mobile phone, a Baofeng Handheld Radio, and an Airtel recharge card valued at N5,000.

Major General Mayirenso Saraso, the General Officer Commanding the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation WHIRL PUNCH, commended the troops for their success and urged them to continue making life unbearable for terrorists, insurgents, and their collaborators.

The General Officer Commanding also commended the good people of Kaduna, Kano, Niger, and Jigawa States for their continuous cooperation and urged them to make good use of the Division’s Toll-Free Line “0800 002 0204” to communicate actionable intelligence and information that will further assist the Division and other security agencies to project offensive operations against criminal elements.

This operation is a significant achievement for the Nigerian Army, demonstrating their commitment to neutralizing terrorist threats and protecting the lives and property of citizens.
