Police Foil Two Bandits’ Attacks, Rescue Five Kidnapped Victims in Katsina State
In a commendable display of bravery and efficiency, operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have foiled two bandits’ attacks and rescued five kidnapped victims in Malumfashi local government area of the state.
According to a statement issued by the command’s Spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, on Monday in Katsina, the police received a distress call from Layin Minister Village on Sunday, reporting that bandits had attacked and kidnapped five people. The police responded quickly, dispatching operatives to the scene, where they engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel.
The kidnappers, realizing the presence of the police, opened fire, but the police team responded gallantly, rescuing the five kidnapped victims unhurt. The assailants, however, succumbed to the superior firepower of the operatives and fled the scene with various degrees of bullet wounds.
In a separate incident, another distress call was received at the same headquarters, reporting that armed bandits, riding on 12 motorcycles and wielding dangerous weapons, were shooting sporadically in Marabar Kankara village, Malumfashi LGA. The police responded swiftly, mobilizing operatives to the scene, where they engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and successfully foiled the attack.
During the course of scanning the scene, the bodies of two neutralized suspected armed bandits were recovered. Efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects as the investigation proceeds.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, commended the exceptional act displayed by the operatives, reiterating the command’s commitment towards ensuring a better-secured Katsina State.
