Benue APC Crisis: Party Leadership Meets Stakeholders to Resolve Feud
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has convened an emergency meeting with Benue senators, House of Representatives members, and stakeholders of the party in the state to resolve the lingering feud between loyalists of Governor Hyacinth Alia and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
The crisis in the Benue chapter of the APC has been ongoing for over a year, with political gladiators fighting for control of the party. The NWC, in a bid to resolve the issue, will meet with many of the aggrieved members and relevant stakeholders at the national headquarters of the APC on Tuesday.
In an interview, Nze Chidi Duru, the National Deputy Organising Secretary of the APC, disclosed that the party leadership would meet with senators and House of Representatives members from the state by 10 am on Tuesday. After that, there will be a meeting with the newly installed Benue APC caretaker committee, which was put in place to take over the party affairs at the state level for six months.
The caretaker committee was inaugurated last Wednesday, following the dissolution of the Agada-led executives loyal to Akume. The move is seen as a crucial step towards resolving the crisis in the party.
The APC leadership is hoping that the meeting will bring an end to the infighting and allow the party to focus on its goals and objectives. The Benue chapter of the APC has been a key battleground in the party’s internal politics, and the resolution of the crisis is seen as crucial for the party’s survival.
The meeting is expected to be a tense one, with many stakeholders having strong opinions on the matter. However, the APC leadership is hopeful that a resolution can be reached, and the party can move forward in a united and strong manner.
