Delta State Governor Commits to Collaboration with Security Agencies to Tackle Crime

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has pledged to work closely with security agencies to combat issues of kidnapping, cultism, and other crimes in the state. The governor made the commitment during a thanksgiving service to mark the 33rd anniversary of the state’s creation at the Government House Chapel in Asaba.

Speaking at the event, Oborevwori emphasized the importance of peace and security in ensuring the state’s development. “On security across the state, I pledge to continue doing my best to ensure peace and security in the state. Only through sustainable peace can enduring development thrive in the state,” he said.

The governor highlighted his administration’s efforts to develop the state’s economy, stating that they have been investing heavily in infrastructural development across all sectors. “In the past 15 months, we have demonstrated our resolve to keep Delta State ahead in all social and economic development indices,” he added.

Oborevwori also commended the state’s security agencies, acknowledging the challenges they face in keeping the state safe. “I know that there are lots of challenges, but I will continue to encourage the security agencies; we will continue to partner to ensure peace in Delta State because it is only through sustainable peace that development can come to this state,” he said.

The event, which was attended by various stakeholders, was preceded by a sermon titled “The Power Of Collective Thanksgiving” delivered by the State Mission Overseer of Living Faith Church, Pastor Shiyanbade Adekunle. The pastor urged every Deltan to express gratitude to God for the great things He has done in their lives and in the state.

Oborevwori’s commitment to working with security agencies to tackle crime in Delta State comes at a time when the state is facing rising incidents of kidnapping and cultism. The governor’s administration has promised to enhance peace and security in the state, and it remains to be seen whether these efforts will bear fruit.
