Niger State Government Embarks on Construction of 100 New Primary Healthcare Centres

In a significant move to improve healthcare services in Niger State, the state government has launched a project to construct 100 units of Level-2 Primary Healthcare Centres across the 25 Local Government Areas of the state. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Digital Media and Strategy, Abdullberqy Ebbo, made this announcement in a statement issued in Minna and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.

According to Ebbo, the project is part of the efforts by the current administration towards the realisation of the “New Niger’ Agenda”. Governor Umar Bago recently announced that about 20 of these centres will commence operations immediately, while others will follow subsequently.

However, Ebbo added that two of the facilities cannot start due to some technical issues. The affected centres are located at the Maitumbi FM in Bosso and Old Orphanage, Nasarawa C, in Chanchaga Local Government Area.

The project aims to provide quality healthcare services to the people of Niger State, and Ebbo emphasized that the centres will be equipped with modern facilities, including beds, maternity equipment, computers, and solar power systems. The facilities will be designed to provide efficient and effective service delivery to the people of the state.

Ebbo pointed out that the project is meant to help people gain access to quality healthcare services within their communities without having to travel far. He added that 20 of the facilities are already at their completion stages, indicating that the present administration is prioritizing the health sector to enhance the provision of quality healthcare facilities in the state.

Recall that Governor Bago performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the project in June. The construction of these primary healthcare centres is a significant step towards improving the healthcare infrastructure in Niger State and enhancing the wellbeing of its citizens.
