Taylor Swift Fans Unite to Rally for Vice President Kamala Harris

In a surprising turn of events, an estimated 27,000 Taylor Swift fans, affectionately known as Swifties, gathered last night on Zoom, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram to rally for the election of Vice President Kamala Harris. The two-hour call, led by Swifties for Kamala, raised over $100,000 and featured appearances by politicians, organizers, and even legendary singer-songwriter Carole King.

Unlike previous attempts to mobilize fans, this effort was independent of Taylor Swift’s involvement, with Rohan Reagan, a representative for Swifties for Kamala, stating that they are not waiting for her to show her support for Harris. While it’s possible that Swift may express her support again, Swifties for Kamala is taking matters into their own hands, leveraging their organizing skills to get people involved in the election.

Notably, Harris’s opponent, former President Donald Trump, has attempted to capitalize on this effort by sharing AI-generated images of Swift and Swifties claiming to support him. In response, Swifties for Kamala took inspiration from the record-breaking Win With Black Women call, which saw 44,000 participants and raised $1.6 million in just three hours. Other coalitions, including Win With Black Men and White Women: Answer The Call!, have also held successful Zoom rallies, raising millions of dollars for Harris’s campaign.

While Swifties for Kamala has yet to make the same impact as these more established voting blocks, Senator Elizabeth Warren remains optimistic, saying that there are still 69 days and many opportunities to make a difference. As the election season heats up, it remains to be seen how this unlikely coalition will continue to mobilize and make its voice heard.
