New Movie "1992" Follows Two Duos During the 1992 Los Angeles Riots

Thirty-two years after the 1992 Los Angeles riots, a new movie, "1992," is set to hit the big screens. The film, produced by Snoop Dogg and starring Tairi’s Gibson, pays tribute to the turbulent times of the past. The movie follows two duos, a young father and his son, as they navigate the challenges of rebuilding their lives and relationships amidst the backdrop of the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

The film stars Gibson alongside Scott Eastwood and the late Ray Liotta, who tragically passed away in 2022. Karsen Liotta, the daughter of the late actor, walked the red carpet in honor of her father, expressing her hope that the world will continue to remember her father for his "work ethic and dedication" to the craft.

"He was really, I guess he was an icon, pretty iconic, beautiful, respectful, respected, dedicated work," Liotta said of her father.

The movie, executive produced by Snoop Dogg’s Death Row Pictures, tells the story of two father-son teams who collide in the midst of a risky heist during the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Gibson, who also has an upcoming album set for release this year, has shifted his focus from defining success by monetary or market success to projects that are important to him.

"I’m not chasing the benchmark," Gibson said. "At this point, my joy, my high, it’s that I’m not chasing the benchmark. I’m leaning into projects like ‘1992’ that are important to me."

The movie’s release comes with a special surprise as Gibson’s "Fast and the Furious" co-star Vin Diesel approached the press line, sharing an emotional moment with the actor. The two were later joined by co-star Michelle Rodriguez for a group photo.

"We’re at this really interesting time right now in Hollywood. And the first people I’m going to support is a family that’s been recognized by the world, the ‘Fast’ family," Diesel said. "I got to just support that and encourage him to continue his artistry because I think he’s so good."

"1992" is set for release on August 30.
