Nigeria Loses Two Senior Police Officers: IGP Expresses Deep Sadness
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has expressed deep sadness over the loss of two prominent Senior Police Officers, AIG Philip Sule Maku (rtd.), and CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara.
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, retired AIG Philip Sule Maku, who served as Commissioner of Police in Bauchi and Ebonyi States before retiring as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Department of Information and Communication Technology, ICT, died on August 23, 2024.
CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara, who served the nation in various capacities, including as DCP State Criminal Investigations Department, Lagos State, before his posting as the Commissioner of Police in charge of Akwa Ibom State, died on August 28 after a brief illness.
The statement posted on the police force’s Facebook page on Friday confirmed the passing of both senior police officers, describing their dedication to service and integrity as "unforgettable". The loss is not only felt by their families but also by the entire Nigeria Police Force.
The Inspector-General of Police has extended his sincere condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late officers, praying for solace during this difficult time. May their souls rest in peace.
The Nigeria Police Force has lost two dedicated and respected officers, and their passing will be deeply felt by all who knew them and those whose lives they impacted throughout their careers.
