Akwa Ibom State Police Exhumes Bodies of Kidnapped Marine Hunters, Arrest Suspects in Gruesome Murder

A shocking discovery of exhumed bodies of five marine hunters abducted, murdered, and buried in shallow graves has sent shivers down the spines of residents in Akwa Ibom State. In a latest development, police detectives in the area have apprehended five individuals suspected to be responsible for the horrific crime.

As per authorities, the marine hunters’ remains were disinterred last Thursday in response to information that revealed the grim truth of their fate after they vanished. The ill-fated hunters were employed by the Ministry of Internal Security and Inland Waterways and are believed to have met a barbaric end by the hands of a notorious criminal gang that terrorizes the Mbo Local Government Area where the incident occurred.

Acting promptly on the intelligence gained, a contingent of police operatives carried out an arrest operation, apprehending a string of five suspects, including their ally, a Village Head, whose fortifications are said to be at fault. The suspects will stand accused of the heinous charges filed against them.

The arrested five comprise a 46-year-old Antony Archibong, 34-year-old Harry Tom, 24-year-olds Daniel Edet and Eniete, and an 18-year-old suspect, Emmanuel Otoyo, aside from the Village Head of Utit Antai, 51-year-old Chief Okon Asuquo Eteokpo. The perpetrators left no stone unturned with respect to the extent of their horrific deed: 15 bullets and disembodied heads now accompany a catalog of unspeakable events, heightening the senselessness and criminality of the transgressed.

As the investigation widens its scope, the Chief Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Command for Akwa Ibom, Timothy John, has delivered an extraordinary message to the public that this command remains resolutely determined in battling crime and criminal behaviors and would not hesitate to expose, track, and apprehend its arch-villains.
