Wike Accuses PDP Governors of Playing Both Sides Against Tinubu

Tinubu’s Critics Face Backlash from Wike

Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has fired back at critics who accuse him of playing both sides in politics. Speaking at the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) state congress in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike targeted several PDP governors who he claims are pretending to support President Bola Tinubu while secretly working against him.

According to Wike, these governors "love the president at night but say a different thing" during the day. He accused them of lacking character and urged them to stand by their true convictions. Wike’s remarks came as he explained his decision to work against the PDP during the presidential election in 2023.

Wike stated that the PDP ignored justice, fairness, and equity during the last election, which led him to take a stance against the party. He recalled that during the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari, he never played both sides, unlike some of his PDP colleagues who are now trying to do the same with Tinubu.

Wike’s comments have sparked controversy in Nigerian political circles, with many seeing them as a direct attack on several PDP governors who are believed to be supporting Tinubu. The situation is likely to escalate tensions within the PDP and further polarize the country’s political landscape.
