Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel Runs 4 Without Boundary Against Sloppy Bangladesh Fielding

  • Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel Scores Rare ‘All-Run’ Four as Bangladesh Fielders Look Sloppy

In a rare and entertaining moment in international cricket, Pakistan batter Saud Shakeel scored an “all-run” four on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on August 22. Shakeel’s opportunistic running saw him complete four runs as the ball did not reach the boundary and none of the Bangladesh fielders chased it down.

The incident occurred during the 48th over of Pakistan’s innings, when Nahid Rana bowled a full-length ball outside off and Shakeel played a straight drive towards mid-off. Shoriful Islam, the fielder, dived but managed only to take the pace off the ball with his fingertips. As a result, the ball did not reach the boundary, leaving Shakeel ample time to complete four runs before Najmul Hossain Shanto went after the ball.

Sharing the video on his official handle, Pakistan Cricket’s social media team captioned the post: “Don’t see this often… An all-run 4 for Saud Shakeel.” Watch the clip below:

Meanwhile, Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan have put Pakistan in the driving seat against Bangladesh, sharing a century partnership for the fifth wicket. At the time of writing, Pakistan were 219/4 after 56.1 overs, with Shakeel (75 off 139) and Rizwan (66 off 78) at the crease. The two players will be looking to convert their starts into individual centuries, while Bangladesh pacers Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud have each taken two wickets so far.

Earlier on Day 1, Shakeel shared a 98-run partnership with Saim Ayub to help Pakistan recover from 16/3. However, Abdullah Shafique (2 off 14), captain Shan Masood (6 off 11) and Babar Azam (silver duck) failed to deliver, giving Bangladesh a dream start.
