Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission Declares APC Winner in Local Council Polls

In a decisive victory, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged as the winner of all positions contested in the recent local council polls in Kebbi State, Nigeria. The Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC) made the announcement on Sunday, following a peaceful and hitch-free exercise.

According to KESIEC Chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Muhammad-Mera, the APC won all 21 chairmanship and 225 councillorship seats. Muhammad-Mera revealed that 17 political parties participated in the polls, including APC, NNPP, LP, AAC, Boot party, AP, and SDP, among others.

The commission ratified and adopted the chairmanship results for the local government areas (LGAs) as announced by the various councils’ Returning Officers and the councillorship results as announced at the electoral wards. Muhammad-Mera expressed joy over the exercise, commending the security agencies and all other stakeholders for their invaluable support.

It is worth noting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had boycotted the elections, alleging that the KESIEC chairman and his commissioners were card-carrying members of the APC. The PDP also claimed that the Commission’s leadership would not be fair to opposition parties.

The outcome of the polls is a significant victory for the APC, which has maintained a strong presence in Kebbi State. The results are expected to have far-reaching implications for the party’s future prospects in the state.
