Tinubu’s Ministers Face Ax as Lack of Military Cooperation Exposed

Nigeria’s defence ministers are in the hot seat following a scathing rebuke from Daniel Bwala, a former aide to Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Bwala has suggested that the ministers of Defence, Mohammed Badaru and Bello Matawalle, might be shown the exit door from President Bola Tinubu’s administration if the lack of cooperation between the Air Force and Army persists.

In a social media post on Sunday, Bwala expressed his frustration over the situation where "schoolboy errors" allow ragtag bandits to easily snatch armored vehicles and munitions. He emphasized that if the lack of coordination continues, the ministers might need to go.

This warning comes in the wake of a video showing a notorious terrorism kingpin, Bello Turji, and his armed bandits celebrating their supposed "victory" over the Nigerian military after burning down two Mines Resistant Armour Personnel (MRAP) vehicles stuck in the mud. The incident occurred during an operation in Zamfara State, a region plagued by terrorism and banditry.

The soldiers involved abandoned the vehicles, which were then attacked and destroyed by the bandits. The incident highlights the disturbing trend of military vehicles being vulnerable to theft and destruction.

As the situation remains volatile, Nigerians are holding their breaths, eager to see if the authorities will take immediate action to address the root causes of this chaos. Will President Tinubu listen to Bwala’s advice and take decisive measures to strengthen the nation’s defence capabilities, or will this warning fall on deaf ears?

With tensions running high, it remains to be seen how the Nigerian government will respond to this mounting crisis.
