Ivorian Defender Sol Bamba Passes Away at 39

It is with deep sadness that we report the untimely passing of Ivorian professional footballer, Sol Bamba, at the age of 39. The former defender, who played for several clubs including Rennes, Palermo, and Cardiff City, left an indelible mark on the world of football during his illustrious career.

Born on December 13, 1985, in Yopougon, Côte d’Ivoire, Bamba began his professional journey with AS Issy in France before moving to Rennes in 2006. His impressive performances for the club earned him a move to Palermo in 2011, where he played for two seasons before joining Cardiff City in 2012.

During his time at Cardiff City, Bamba helped the team win the Championship title in the 2012-2013 season, securing promotion to the Premier League. He also represented his national team, Côte d’Ivoire, at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, where they finished as runners-up.

Throughout his career, Bamba was known for his tireless work rate, aerial ability, and leadership qualities on the pitch. He played over 400 games in his professional career, scoring more than 30 goals and providing numerous assists to his teammates.
