Super Eagles Trio Set for 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers
Interim head coach of the Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen, has announced an impressive squad to assist him in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda. Fidelis Ilechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede, renowned coaches in their own right, will form part of Eguavoen’s backroom team.
According to a statement released by the Director of Communications for the Nigeria Football Federation, Ademola Olajire, both Ilechukwu, the Enugu Rangers head coach, and Ogunmodede, the tactician from Remo Stars, will join Eguavoen in Uyo to help prepare the Super Eagles for their upcoming encounters.
"We are excited to have such a talented pair of coaches on board for these important matches," said Olajire. Additionally, Eguavoen will be joined by experienced fitness trainer Tomaz Zorec from Slovenia, goalkeeper trainer Olatunji Baruwa, and match analyst Eboboritse Uwejamomere.
Prior to departing for Uyo, where they will set up base for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the players and officials will begin training on Monday evening. Saturday’s match with Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium is followed by Tuesday’s clash against Rwanda in Kigali.
"We are confident in our preparation and look forward to securing positive results," said Eguavoen, speaking on behalf of the entire Super Eagles setup.
Fans and supporters across the continent will be anxiously following the progress of the three-time African champions as they strive to reassert their dominance in continental football.
