Kano State Reinstates Boarding Status of 15 Girls’ Secondary Schools

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has restated the boarding status of 15 girls’ secondary schools removed by the immediate past administration in the state. The governor made this announcement during an unscheduled inspection of Government Girls Secondary School in Albasu Local Government Area of Kano State.

According to the governor, the de-boarding of the girls’ school resulted in halting the academic pursuit of many talented girls. He expressed dismay over the decision, emphasizing the importance of education for the state’s future.

To address the issue, the governor instructed the Ministry of Education to post English Language, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences teachers to the school as a matter of urgency. Additionally, rehabilitation work has already commenced for the re-boarded schools to resume academic activities in the next school calendar.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing the full components of the declaration of a state of emergency on education in the state. He emphasized the need for a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning in schools across the state, stating that the government would not relent in building and rehabilitating more classrooms.

In a related development, the governor inspected work on the five-kilometer Albasu road, which is 98% completed. He expressed delight at the level of work done and urged the contractor to speed up and complete the remaining work soonest.

This move is seen as a positive step towards improving education in Kano State, which has been plagued by several challenges in recent years. By reinstating the boarding status of these schools, the governor is sending a strong message about the importance of education for the state’s future and the need to provide a conducive learning environment for students.
