"Bauchi Police Arrest Man for Sharing Misleading Video Clip"

In a bid to combat the spread of misinformation, the Bauchi Police Command has arrested one Adamu Suleiman for sharing a video clip that contains misleading information against the Nigeria Police Force. The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, announced the arrest in a press release issued on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the video clip in question shows a police vehicle parked by the roadside where an armed robbery incident took place on February 18, 2020, along Kano-Maiduguri Road near Bam village in Dambam LGA. In the clip, someone is heard claiming that the police officers parked the car were the ones perpetrating armed robbery.

However, the PPRO clarified that the video is outdated and does not accurately represent any current or recent actions by the officers of the command. He maintained that officers were responding to a distress call about an ongoing armed robbery at the time of the incident.

The command takes matters of public misinformation very seriously, particularly when they have the potential to incite fear, confusion, or unrest among the members of the public. The PPRO urged citizens to be cautious about the information they share and to refrain from actions that may disrupt public order or threaten the safety of others.

The arrest of Adamu Suleiman serves as a warning to individuals who spread misleading information on social media platforms. The Nigeria Police Force is committed to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens, and it will not tolerate any actions that undermine public trust and confidence in the institution.
