Bayelsa Assembly Approves Additional Special Advisers
The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has given its nod to Governor Douye Diri’s request to appoint 12 additional Special Advisers. The approval was granted after the House resumed from recess on Wednesday and received three correspondences from the Executive, including the governor’s request.
In addition to the request for special advisers, the governor also sought approval for the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper, as well as the screening and confirmation of two commissioner-nominees for the State Independent Electoral Commission, BYSIEC.
Protem Leader of the House, Wisdom Fafi, moved the motion for the approval of the governor’s request, which was seconded by Tare Pori. However, the House deferred the screening and confirmation of BYSIEC nominees and consideration of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper to the next legislative sitting.
