Dangote’s Refinery Produces Pure White Fuel: Charly Boy Explains the Science Behind It

In a recent post, Charles Oputa, also known as Charly Boy, highlighted the reasons why the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) produced by Dangote’s refinery is pure white in color. According to Charly Boy, the fuel is refined from ethanol, making it efficient for engines.

Charly Boy explained that fuel from ethanol has a good amount of oxygen, which lessens the amount of carbonation in engines. This, in turn, reduces air pollution, which comes in the form of carbon dioxide. He noted that the color of petrol can vary depending on the presence of additives such as octane, lead, and ethanol.

In his post, Charly Boy wrote, "Petrol has different colors, when it’s Red that means Octane was added. When it’s slightly Green then Octane is slightly very much. When it’s Yellow it means it has no lead in it. That means it’s unleaded. But when it’s clear as water as seen in the video then you should know that ethanol was used."

The founder of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, recently disclosed that the refinery is ready to commence production of fuel. Displaying a sample of the fuel from the refinery, Dangote said that President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council (FEC) will decide the price tag for petroleum products from the refinery.

The production of pure white fuel by Dangote’s refinery is a significant development in the Nigerian oil industry. With its potential to reduce air pollution and improve engine efficiency, this new fuel could have a positive impact on the environment and the economy. As the refinery prepares to commence production, it will be interesting to see how this new fuel is received by the market and how it compares to traditional fuels.
