A$AP Rocky’s Latest Track Ignites Speculation About Ongoing Feud with Drake
Rap fans, rejoice! A$AP Rocky has just dropped another single from his upcoming album, Don’t Be Dumb, and it features none other than J. Cole. The smooth cut, titled "Ruby Rosary," has fans scrambling to decipher whether the lyrics are a subtle diss directed at Drake.
The lyrics in question come from a series of bars where Rocky raps, "N**ga want smoke with me, tell him, ‘Push up, Hercules’/ Hercules, tell him push up, tell him pull up, 33." Many are interpreting these lines as a possible retaliation against Drake, who dissed Rocky in his track "Push Ups" last April.
However, some fans are also pointing to other lines, such as "Who in your top five? Haha (Fk your top five)/ I don’t get fresh to death, bch, I’m buried alive/ I heard dawg talkin’ funny, like it’s Family Guy" as potential references to other artists. The mention of "buried alive" could be a nod to Drake’s "Buried Alive Interlude" off his album Take Care, while "dawg" might be a sly jab at For All The Dogs.
Despite the possible shots being fired, A$AP Rocky has said in a recent interview that he’s not interested in engaging in a rap war. "You got to realize, certain n*gas was throwing shots for years. I ain’t in the middle of that sht," he explained. "That’s not how I retaliate right now. I got bigger fish to fry than some p**sy boys."
Rocky’s upcoming album, Don’t Be Dumb, has been delayed until this fall, with fans already getting a glimpse of what’s to come with the tracks "Taylor Swif" and "HIGHJACK." For those who missed his previous album, TESTING, his last full-length project included hits like "Praise The Lord (Da Shine)" and featured guest appearances from Moby, T.I., Kid Cudi, FKA twigs, Skepta, Kodak Black, Frank Ocean, and others.
