Ogun State Embarks on Sensitisation Campaign to Boost Public School Enrollment

The Ogun State Government has launched a sensitisation campaign to increase enrollment in public schools, with a focus on driving qualitative education for children. Led by Commissioner for Education, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu, the team has been touring markets and motor parks across the state to spread the word.

According to Arigbabu, the government has upgraded facilities in public schools and those for children with special needs, ensuring a conducive teaching and learning environment. He highlighted the presence of qualified and competent teachers who are dedicated to bringing out the best in students and preparing them for greatness.

The Commissioner emphasized that the government is committed to providing free education, and the registration for the 2024/2025 academic session has commenced for three and six-year-olds. He encouraged parents and guardians to take their wards to nearby public primary schools between 9am and 1pm, Monday to Friday, and to monitor their academic and moral activities in school for a successful and sustainable future.

Arigbabu also revealed that the government has invested in capacity building for teachers, built new classrooms, modern laboratories, computer rooms, and smart classrooms, and provided furniture to ensure a seamless teaching and learning process across the state.

The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, advised parents to be patient and allow their wards to go through the normal learning process, which will help them become firm and attain maturity as they progress to higher institutions.

Executive Secretary of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Mikail Lawal, added that parents should instill discipline and morals into their children and live by good examples.

The campaign aims to ensure that every child in Ogun State has access to quality education, and the government’s efforts are expected to have a positive impact on the state’s education sector.
