President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing the Nigeria Police Force with modern equipment and resources to enhance its effectiveness. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of 478 students of the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State, Mr. Tinubu emphasized the importance of shunning corruption and upholding the highest level of professionalism.
"We are also embarking on a massive recruitment drive into the Police Force aimed at empowering our youth to participate in national security efforts," Mr. Tinubu said. The president expressed confidence that the newly graduated officers had received sufficient training to make a positive impact on the country’s security architecture.
Mr. Tinubu assured that the Federal Government would continue to support the academy, which he described as one of the best training grounds for police officers in Sub-Saharan Africa. He charged the new officers to prioritize the nation’s interests, discharge their constitutional responsibilities, and work with dedication and commitment.
The president also appealed to the officers to remain vigilant and uphold the ideals of the police, focusing on effective service delivery. "As you graduate today, you are not just receiving a certificate, but also becoming ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Service," Mr. Tinubu said. "I charge you to discharge your primary duties with compassion, integrity, and professionalism."
The commandant of the Academy, AIG Sadiq Abubakar, commended the Federal Government for its significant investment in the graduates, which has paved the way for the graduation ceremony. The academy has 17 programs accredited by the National Universities Commission, equipping the graduates with essential policing knowledge to enhance the security situation in the country.
The president’s pledge to modernize the police force and support the academy is a significant step towards enhancing national security and promoting professionalism within the force. As the new officers embark on their careers, they are expected to prioritize the nation’s interests and discharge their responsibilities with integrity and professionalism.
