Presidency Denies Nigerian President’s Yacht Scandal

Rumors have been circulating on social media that President Bola Tinubu’s presidential yacht has been spotted in the coastal town of St. Tropez, France. However, the Nigerian presidency has denied the claim, stating that the luxury yacht belongs to a private individual and not the government or the President himself.

According to Otega Ogra, one of President Tinubu’s media aides, the yacht is actually owned by a private person and not the Nigerian President or the Navy. He took to his verified X page to debunk the rumors, explaining that flags used by the president or armed forces do not contain a coat of arms like the one displayed on the yacht.

"The official Nigerian flag is Green-White-Green without a coat of arms in the middle. Flags representing the Nigerian President or the Armed Forces do not contain a coat of arms in the centre. Placing anything in the centre of the flag is a clear deviation," Ogra noted.

Ogra further highlighted that it is not unusual for luxury yachts to fly the flag of their owner’s country, as well as the flag of the country where they are registered. He added that the Nigerian President’s and the Armed Forces’ flags do not feature a coat of arms in the centre, making the alleged President’s yacht an impossible entity.

The controversy started gaining traction on social media with several reports and speculations claiming that the "presidential yacht belonging to the Nigerian government" was enjoying a vacation in St. Tropez. The development has sparked intense online conversations, with many seeking clarity on the ownership of the yacht.
