Crime Surge in Delta State: Right Activist Calls for Immediate Action

The rise of internet fraud, armed robbery, kidnapping, and other crimes has become a growing concern in Delta State, Nigeria. Right activist Israel Joe has sounded the alarm, urging the government to take immediate action to address the crisis. In an exclusive interview with Media Talk Africa, Joe blamed the surge in crime on the cumulative youth abandonment of years, saying that unemployment and frustration have increased exponentially in society.

According to Joe, the government’s lack of attention to the needs of young people has created an environment conducive to crime. “The government and society left young people unattended, and now we are seeing the consequences of that neglect,” he stated. “Unemployment and frustration have increased in society, and this has led to a surge in crime.”

Joe warned that the government must find innovative ways to engage youths and reduce the crime rate. He suggested that the government and private sector should collaborate to provide job opportunities and skills training for young people. This, he believes, would help to redirect their energies and prevent them from resorting to crime.

Furthermore, Joe advised the Delta State Police Command to intensify efforts to secure the lives and properties of citizens. He stressed that some policemen still deviate from their core responsibilities and engage in extortion, which further exacerbates the crime problem.

To tackle the crisis effectively, Joe recommended that the police force receives additional orientation and training to enable them to respond appropriately to the needs of the community. He emphasized that this would help to restore trust between the police and the public.

The issue of crime is a pressing concern not only for the government and citizens of Delta State but also for the entire nation. It is crucial that urgent measures are taken to address the root causes of crime and to create a safer and more secure environment for all.

The views expressed by Israel Joe highlight the need for a comprehensive approach to tackling the crime problem in Delta State. It is imperative that the government, civil society, and private sector work together to address the socio-economic and political factors contributing to the surge in crime. By doing so, we can create a safer and more prosperous society for all.
