Rainy Days Ahead: NiMet Predicts Thunderstorms and Rains Across Nigeria

Nigeria is bracing itself for a wet week, as the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted rainy and thundery weather conditions from Monday to Wednesday across the country. According to NiMet’s weather outlook, released on Sunday in Abuja, isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of the northern region on Monday, with intermittent rains forecasted over parts of the southern region.

On Tuesday, NiMet predicts isolated thunderstorms over parts of the northern region, while on Wednesday, thunderstorms are expected over parts of the northern region in the morning hours, followed by isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, as there is a high likelihood of urban flooding in major cities due to heavy downpours. NiMet also warns of strong winds that may precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur.

In terms of specific locations, NiMet predicts the following weather conditions:

* Monday: Isolated thunderstorms over parts of Katsina, Sokoto, Kano, Zamfara, Kebbi, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba states in the northern region. Intermittent rains over parts of Benue, Niger, the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, and Kwara states.
* Tuesday: Isolated thunderstorms over parts of Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, and Taraba states. Intermittent rains over parts of Ebonyi, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Cross River states.
* Wednesday: Thunderstorms over parts of Kebbi, Bauchi, Sokoto, Borno, and Katsina states in the morning hours. Isolated thunderstorms over parts of Kebbi, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Adamawa, Kano, and Taraba states in the afternoon and evening.
