India Cricketer Sanju Samson Spends Romantic Evening in Paris with Wife, Duleep Trophy Squad Selection Raises Eyebrows

Sanju Samson, the 29-year-old wicket-keeper batsman from India, took a break from the cricketing field to explore the romantic city of Paris with his wife Charulatha. The couple recently shared a lovely moment on the Eiffel Tower’s observation deck, showcasing their affection for each other.

On August 28, Charulatha uploaded a heartwarming video to her Instagram handle, where Sanju can be seen lifting her up in the air, overlooking the iconic Eiffel Tower. She captioned the post: "The reason for such ‘peculiar actions’ is behind the objects😬😁😁 I Eiffel You."

As the cricketing world gets back into action, attention has shifted to the squads announced for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024. Unfortunately, Sanju Samson was overlooked by the selectors, leading to some raised eyebrows, especially considering his recent form in the T20I series against Sri Lanka. In the absence of Shubman Gill, Sanju struggled to make a significant impact, being dismissed for a golden duck and a four-ball duck respectively in the second and third matches.

The 17th edition of the Duleep Trophy is scheduled to commence on September 5, with several seasoned Indian cricketers including Suryakumar Yadav, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul set to participate. Sanju Samson’s exclusion from the squads, along with that of Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara, has drawn criticism, particularly from former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali.

In a YouTube video, Basit expressed surprise at the omissions: "I saw the teams and I am surprised that 3-4 names are not there. Ajinkya Rahane is not there. Cheteshwar Pujara is not there. Sanju Samson is not there. Rinku Singh is not there. Shivam Dube has been picked. I think he is being readied as an all-rounder. Let’s see who performs in the Duleep Trophy."

It remains to be seen if Sanju Samson will be able to redeem himself in the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh, with the series opener slated for October 6.
