PlayStation 5 Pro Inches Closer to Official Announcement
Sony has confirmed a PlayStation 5 "Technical Presentation" for September 10, which is expected to reveal the existence of the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro console. The presentation will be hosted by Mark Cerny, the lead architect of the PS5, and will focus on the console’s capabilities and innovations in gaming technology.
The nine-minute stream will be broadcast in English on the PlayStation YouTube channel, but Sony has provided no further details on the presentation. However, it’s likely that the company will finally reveal the PS5 Pro, which has been an open secret in the gaming industry for some time.
Sony’s confirmation of the presentation comes after leaks suggested that the PS5 Pro would debut in September. The company has also seemingly teased the console’s design in a recent post celebrating the 30th anniversary of PlayStation. The image featured a cast of PlayStation products, including a PS5-like design with three stripes running across the side plate, which matches a leaked design of the PS5 Pro.
The PS5 Pro has been rumored to feature hardware upgrades, including improved graphics and performance. With declining sales of the PS5, Sony is expected to launch the ‘Pro’ version of its current-gen console ahead of the Holiday 2024 season. In its recent earnings report, Sony said it sold 2.4 million PS5 units, well below the three million-mark that analysts had expected.
