According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the Speaker, Musa Krishi, Abbas expressed his deep concern over the situation, urging collective intervention to assist the victims of the natural disaster. "I am disturbed by the news of the ravaging flood in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. This is a situation that calls for concern to every well-meaning Nigerian," the statement read.

Abbas also extended his thoughts and prayers to the people and government of Borno State, emphasizing the need for swift action to alleviate the suffering of the affected residents. "I call on all government agencies responsible for providing quick intervention in times of such emergencies to swing into action for the sake of the affected people," he stated.

Furthermore, Abbas advised residents of other cities in the country where weather forecasts indicate potential floods in the coming days and weeks to take necessary precautions to protect their lives and properties.
