Ogun State Governor Approves Two Days Off Duty for Workers
In a move aimed at easing the burden on workers, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has approved two days off duty per week for officers on Grade Level 01-14. This decision is a significant extension of the initial one-day-off policy, which was introduced in July 2023 for all grade levels. Officers on Grade Level 15-17 will maintain one day off duty per week.
According to a statement by the State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, the new policy is designed to provide substantial relief to workers who now face more significant challenges commuting to work. Onasanya emphasized that the governor is highly committed to the welfare of workers and is taking steps to ensure a more motivated and energized workforce.
The policy will require accounting officers to immediately implement the new schedule in their respective MDAs, ensuring that service delivery is not compromised. Onasanya urged accounting officers to work out modalities to ensure a smooth transition.
The extension of the one-day-off policy to two days off for GL 01-14 is intended to further reduce the financial burden on workers and increase productivity. With this move, the Ogun State government is demonstrating its commitment to the well-being of its employees and the quality of service delivery.
As the governor continues to prioritize the welfare of workers, it remains to be seen how this new policy will impact the state’s workforce and overall productivity. One thing is certain, however: the Ogun State government is taking steps to create a more comfortable and motivated work environment for its employees.
