A Year After Tragic Death, Actress Opeyemi Aiyeola Warns Against Self-Sacrifice
The first anniversary of Nigerian singer Mohbad’s death has passed, leaving behind a legacy of unanswered questions and unresolved tragedy. In a recent social media post, Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola used this somber occasion to warn her fans against self-sacrifice, cautioning them against putting themselves forward as "sacrificial lambs" for others.
Aiyeola, who shared her own reflections on the case, drew attention to the importance of prioritizing one’s conscience and well-being above wealth and influence. "The risk of getting your conscience dirty for wealth is not worth it in the end," she emphasized, "and the love for money and fear of supreme influence will turn even your blood and loved ones against you."
Mohbad, who passed away on September 12, 2023, died under questionable circumstances. Following public outcry for justice, his body was exhumed for autopsy at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on September 21, 2023. Nine months later, the pathologist who conducted the autopsy revealed that the test could not determine the cause of the singer’s death. In response, Mohbad’s family has called for an independent autopsy to uncover the truth behind his tragic demise.
Aiyeola’s warning to fans serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of protecting one’s own interests and values, even in the face of adversity or hardship. As the world mourns the loss of this talented artist, we must also acknowledge the pain and suffering that his family and loved ones have endured in the aftermath of his passing.
In the face of uncertainty and tragedy, it is crucial that we stand together in solidarity, recognizing the value of every life and the importance of pursuing justice and truth. By doing so, we can work towards a future where such senseless losses become a thing of the past.
