Kano APC Eyes Victory in October 24 Local Government Elections

Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress (APC), in the Kano state chapter, has announced that it will participate in the upcoming October 24, Local Government elections in Kano. The decision came from the party’s chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, who expressed optimism about his party’s chances in the poll.

Abbas met with newsmen on Thursday in Kano to confirm the party’s involvement in the election. "We are doing everything humanly possible to ensure our teeming supporters participate in the election," he reiterated. The party chairman appealed to the state Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the success of the polls.

Acccording to Abbas, the party is soon set to organize its primary elections to select candidates for the election. He also underlined the party’s track record in the state’s progressive politics, noting, "Historically, [Kano] has been the stronghold of progressive politics." The party’s preparations are already underway, Abbas confirmed, with the gathering of supporters across the 44 local governments in Kano.

The APC maintains its commitment to free and fair elections, emphasizing "the need for a level playing ground for the implementation of the electoral process, starting from the October 24 Local Government elections in Kano."

As parties across Nigeria gear up for the polls, the anticipation builds for a crucial indicator of the country’s progress.
