Food Critic Accuses Entertainment Mogul of Threats After Negative Review
Opeyemi Famakin, a popular food critic, has taken to social media to accuse entertainment mogul, Cubana Chiefpriest, of threatening his life over a negative review. The alleged threat stems from a review Famakin posted online after visiting Chiefpriest’s restaurant in Imo State on September 11, 2024.
In his review, Famakin praised the restaurant’s ambiance and aesthetics but noted that the pastries should not have been pre-made and microwaved. Chiefpriest responded in the comment section, expressing gratitude for the visit and wishing Famakin well. However, things took a dramatic turn when Famakin accused Chiefpriest of threatening him over the review.
To support his claim, Famakin posted screenshots of their conversations. In the screenshot, Chiefpriest wrote, "Karma is real, you must pay for whatever you sow in life. I don’t fight lowlifes, I leave them to karma. The business you did your wicked review for is owned by a 6-year-old." Famakin captioned the screenshot, urging the public to hold Chiefpriest responsible should anything happen to him.
Famakin claimed that the tone in Chiefpriest’s message was different from the polite response he received in the comment section. "I know a threat when I see one," Famakin wrote. "I guess it’s time to leave Imo State ASAP. If anything happens to me while I am here, well, you know who to hold. I love how he was polite in the comment section for the world to see, but it was a different tone in my DMs."
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of food critics and the ethics of responding to negative reviews. As the situation continues to unfold, fans and critics alike are left wondering what will happen next.
