Nigeria’s Peter Obi Open to Partnerships for National Progress
In a recent social media post, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in Nigeria’s 2023 general election, emphasized his openness to partnering with individuals or groups who share his vision for advancing the country’s progress. Obi, a former Anambra governor, made the comment in response to concerns about his presidential ambition.
During an interview on News Central Television, Obi sparked speculation about his plans to run for office, stating that he is not desperate to become president or hold any position. Instead, he expressed his determination to see Nigeria develop and advance. Obi emphasized his commitment to working with individuals who share his vision and are committed to building a new Nigeria.
In the same interview, Obi reiterated his stance against running for office with individuals who are primarily focused on gaining power or winning elections, stating that he wants to work with those who genuinely want to make a difference in the country. He cited the need to address pressing challenges such as hunger, poverty, insecurity, and out-of-school children.
Obi also reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party and his dedication to bringing millions of out-of-school children back into the classroom. He urged any individuals or groups interested in working with him to reveal their true intentions and proposals for addressing the country’s challenges.
The former governor expressed surprise at the misrepresentation of his words by some individuals, stating that he never declared his willingness to be vice president to anyone. Obi underscored his commitment to partnering with individuals who share his vision for a better Nigeria, regardless of whether or not they hold office.
