Fatal Car-Tanker Accident Claims Lives of Two Adults in Anambra

A tragic accident involving two vehicles claimed the lives of two adults in Anambra on Saturday. The incident, which occurred on the Onitsha-Nteje-Awka road at Zone-13, resulted in the loss of life and injury to others. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident was attributed to brake failure and loss of control.

The FRSC sector commander, Joyce Alexander, confirmed the incident to newsmen, stating that the accident involved an unidentified driver of a car marked UWN531AS and a driver identified as Sani Bappa with a tanker registered ADM619XA. According to eyewitnesses, the brake of the car failed, and the driver lost control, resulting in a collision with the tanker.

Four individuals, including three male adults and a female adult, were involved in the accident. Unfortunately, one female adult and one male adult succumbed to their injuries, while one person sustained injuries and another was rescued unhurt. Before the arrival of the FRSC rescue team, the bodies of the deceased were taken to the mortuary and the two vehicles were towed away from the road.

The sector commander took the opportunity to sympathize with the families of the deceased and urged motorists to adhere to traffic rules, emphasizing the importance of regularly servicing their vehicles. Alexander cautioned that such accidents are preventable and can only occur when drivers disregard road safety regulations.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the FRSC has urged drivers to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to avoid such tragedies.
