Dangote Refinery Breaks Ground for Locally Produced Petrol Distribution in Nigeria

The Dangote Refinery has taken a significant step towards solving Nigeria’s persistent fuel scarcity issue. The company announced on Sunday that the first set of trucks is set to load Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) at the facility, marking the first time in years that locally produced petrol will be loaded in Nigeria.

This development comes as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) revealed on Saturday that over 300 trucks had arrived at the Dangote Refinery to load petrol. The Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, and the Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, had earlier confirmed that all agreements had been made for NNPCL to lift petrol from the Dangote Refinery.

Petroleum marketers are optimistic that the commencement of petrol distribution from the Dangote Refinery will not only end fuel scarcity but also lead to a reduction in prices. The announcement has sparked hope among Nigerians, who have long suffered from fuel shortages and high prices.

The video posted by Dangote Group on its official social media account, captioned “HAPPENING NOW: First set of trucks set for loading of PMS at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery,” provides a glimpse into the historic moment.

With the Dangote Refinery now poised to contribute to Nigeria’s petrol distribution, the country is expected to see a significant improvement in its energy landscape.
