On Saturday night, Nigeria’s Junior D’Tigress failed to bring home the AfroBasket title, suffering a convincing 76-56 defeat at the hands of a dominant Mali team in the final. Mali earned its ninth AfroBasket crown and extended its unbeaten record to 18 years. Oummou Koumare was instrumental in securing this record-breaking win for her country, contributing an outstanding 31 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 steals in their historic win.

Idubamo Beggi, Nigerian guard for MFM Queens and star of the match for her team, caught a nod in the competition’s All-Star team thanks to her exceptional 18-year-old performance, resulting in an impressive 109-point record over the period.
