For years, WWE superstars and fans have been eagerly awaiting an opportunity for Megan Thee Stallion to join the company in some capacity. Their wish has finally been granted, as the American rapper now lays claim to the Friday Night Smackdown theme song. But that’s not all, as she has hinted at more exciting developments to come.
On September 13, Smackdown made its return to the USA Network, where it had previously been broadcast from 2016 to 2019. The show unveiled a brand-new logo and opening video, backed by the new theme song “Neva Play” by Megan Thee Stallion, featuring RM of the popular K-pop group BTS. WWE’s official X account shared the opening montage, to which Megan Thee Stallion responded with excitement. “I think it’s finally time I make my debut lol #NEVAPLAY,” she tweeted.
This isn’t Megan Thee Stallion’s first interaction with the WWE or its superstars. She previously took a photo with current WWE Women’s Tag Team champion Bianca Belair at Lollapalooza. In May 2023, former Women’s Tag Team champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez called out Megan and Cardi B for a tag team match. Morgan expressed her admiration for Megan, saying that she would be incredible to see in the ring, and that she and Morgan would make for an exciting match.
Jade Cargill, the current Women’s Tag Team champion, has also shown an interest in Megan Thee Stallion, referencing one of her tracks, “Ungrateful,” on Twitter. The seeds are certainly planted for Megan to make her presence felt in the squared circle or on WWE television, and with the company’s recent crossover with celebrities and artists, it’s highly possible.
