Four Dead in Yobe State Due to Acute Diarrhea Outbreak

A devastating outbreak of acute diarrhea has claimed four lives in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, Nigeria. The Yobe State Government confirmed the tragic news on Monday, with the Commissioner for Health, Dr Lawan Gana, sharing the details with newsmen in Damaturu.

The outbreak was detected in Jangalawaji and Tadandara settlements in Gujba Ward, which are among the areas ravaged by recent floods in the state. Dr Gana stated that samples of the victims have been collected and are currently undergoing examination to determine the cause of the disease.

Despite claims of an outbreak of cholera, Dr Gana denied this, emphasizing that only laboratory results can confirm the exact nature of the disease. He urged the public not to panic, assuring that the government is taking all necessary measures to address the situation.

The victims of the outbreak are part of the thousands affected by the recent floods in the state, which have displaced many residents and caused widespread destruction. The government is working tirelessly to provide assistance to those affected and to contain the spread of the disease.

As the investigation continues, the Yobe State Government is urging the public to remain calm and to follow proper hygiene practices to prevent the spread of the disease. The situation is being closely monitored, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

In the meantime, the international community is extending its support to the affected families and the government, offering assistance in the recovery efforts and disease containment measures.
