Counterfeit Cosmetic Factory Shut Down in Lagos, Nigeria

In a major crackdown on illegal activities, the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down a factory producing counterfeit cosmetic products in Lagos, Nigeria. The factory, located at the Trade Fair Complex, was stormed by NAFDAC personnel who discovered a stash of unregistered chemicals, packaging materials, and expired products being revalidated for sale.

The operation led to the seizure of over 1,200 cartons of fake cosmetic products, including mini-mixing containers, unlabelled chemicals, batch coding materials, and thinners. The confiscated items have been moved to the NAFDAC office for further investigation. According to estimates, the street value of the seized items is around N50 million.

The agency has urged the public to be cautious when purchasing cosmetic products and report any suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.
